Island Vis

At least one overnight in Vis, 2nd in Komiza and eve third in some of numerous spectacular bays is recommended, of course depending on weather conditions and length of your holidays.

Place Vis is far away from the coast, more than 25 nautical miles from Marina Kastela, and you will need more than 5 hours to reach it.

In small talk with locals we find out that biggest crowd is Tuesdays & Wednesdays. When approaching to Vis harbour, you will notice that there are two ports/ marinas- one in bay Kut (left) which is totally calm in evening and nearby to excellent restaurants, and port Vis – which is also calm, but not too calm as Kut, with light murmur in the evening, few coffee bars, bakery, and excellent pancakes stand.

After safe mooring in port, we recommend visiting bay Kut by walk or by dinghy, where you can find very best restaurants in this area (and wider).

Vis harbour is pretty safe, only not so comfortable when is bura (north wind). Vis harbour is managed by private Company, and even it has shower it is very likely that you wont find them if you don't know that they are existing.

They are located nearby small reception, behind square.

In port of Vis you can anchorage as well, with note that fees are applicable, with organised garbage pick up.

Best restaurants are in bay of Kut, my personal choice is Pojoda, traditional food which you can not try on other places, e.g, shrimps with orzo and peas, calamari with orzo and lentils. Portions are abundant, prices moderate. Fish grill and other specialties are recommended.

Second restaurant is recommended from our old guests - Vatrica, and  we got an information that Kaliopa is making excellent pasta-beans.

Next bay ideal for anchorage and swimming- a must visit- is bay Rogacic. In this bay there is an army tunnel which was used for hiding boats in 2nd world war, and now is excellent place for diving and swimming.

We definitely recommend visiting to Green cave, which is located on small islet Ravnik. In front of Green cave sea is too deep for anchoring, and one crew member needs to stay on board.

Next must visit after Green cave on your route is bay Stiniva, which is in our opinion one of the best bays at Adriatic sea. Stiniva is excellent for spending swimming afternoon (or morning)- with sandy beach. It is necessary to be careful while anchoring here, and it is not good place for staying on Jugo (South wind)- since it is unprotected.

Whole south-east coast of Vis is very unusual, rocky and with small caves and interesting bays.
