We were visiting Sv. Nedjelja (actually it means saint Saturday if you would translate it literally) during second half of June 2014 with Hanse 470, and it was not crowded at all. Actually when we came in, we were only sailing yacht moored in their marina (later on, one more charter sailing yacht came). Ok, maybe one reason that it was not crowded was also day in the week- it was Saturday, and normally it is not easy for any charter boat starting journey at Saturday, regardless of start base, to reach it for lunch time.
Marina in front of restaurant, looks pretty shallow (when you are with almost 3m draft everything looks shallow) , and bit unprotected, but we managed to enter easily with Hanse 470 despite wavy sea, south wind, and crew not willing to help. We had very good assistance from marina staff – and since it is very small marina, we were very surprised how pleasant they were, waiting for us and helping with the mooring.
Good thing is that they offered free mooring if we stay on lunch, 100 HRK fee if we would like to use electricity and water and stay couple hours, or 300 HRK for overnight stay with electricity and water (compared with other marinas, it is quite cheap!). We have chosen option to stay for a lunch and not use electricity and water, as we just arrived from Komiža where we had mooring, electricity and water, and we planed already to overnight in other bay.
After we moored, we went to newly opened restaurant ” Bilo Idro”, which looks quite interesting and it is located just on the sea. Under restaurant there are vine cellars (under the sea level), and aquarium with the fresh fish.
We had a lunch there, and as always it was not easy choice what to eat. Part of the crew who chose grilled Greater amberjack steak with vegetables and potatoes made perfect choice. It was delicious! Part of the crew ordered frutti di mare pasta and were disappointed. Of course, vine was excellent!
I have to mention very kind and polite waiters, who were all time passing by and checking up on us if we need something, and even brought us free drink, just because we were waiting a bit.
Prices are average for Croatian islands.
near restaurant there is small bakery, offering only bread and very limited choice of pastries. Don’t expect to buy milk or yoghurt there.
Marina is bit unprotected when having south-east wind.
Sveta Nedjelja is definitly place worth visiting. It is close to city of Hvar and Palmižana (Pakleni islands), so you can drop by for a lunch, or for overnight stay.
